Jordan Dawson, Therapist

Jordan Dawson, MSW, LCSW

Jordan Dawson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia who has been practicing since 2017. Jordan specializes in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, self-esteem struggles and anger, as well as psychotic disorders, and mood disorders in preadolescents, adolescents, and young adults. She considers therapy to be a collaborative process, and builds working relationships by centering interactions around trust and mutual respect. Jordan lives by the belief that care should truly be individualized. She therefore pulls from different treatment modalities to help you explore how your own strengths can be used to facilitate the change you wish to see at a pace that feels right for you. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness techniques are among the approaches you will experience while working with Jordan. As she helps you explore the link between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors Jordan will provide therapeutic tools in everyday terms, so you can walk out of your time together with skills for your real-life routines. Jordan’s chief aim is to reduce any distress you may be experiencing, and to build confidence in your ability to respond to the many moving parts of your life. Whether someone’s steps toward positive change are big or small, Jordan always considers it a privilege to be brought along for the walk! When free time finds her, Jordan enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her pet cat, exploring historic downtowns and discovering treasures in antique shops. She also loves tackling home improvement or gardening projects, cooking and being outdoors! Jordan received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with a minor in psychology from Rutgers University (Camden, NJ). She went on to obtain her Master of Social Work degree also from Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ). Throughout her time in the field, she has worked individually and as a part of multidisciplinary teams in several practice settings, including long term residential and acute care environments where she has served diverse populations of adolescents and adults. She holds active licensure to practice Clinical Social Work in Texas and Virginia.
