Jessica Ruiz holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Antioch University New England. Jessica is a fully Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina, Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and a National Certified Counselor. Prior to her counseling career, she worked in medical education administration for 19 years where she became inspired to pursue a new career as a mental health counselor. Jessica has experience in individual psychotherapy, community mental health, Latinx and military counseling, and suicide prevention programs. Additionally, Jessica is a Spanish-speaking counselor and feels that multicultural considerations are a part of the therapeutic process. Jessica utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology along with other evidence-based therapies and strategies to guide her clients in their mental health journey. Jessica’s primary interests include trauma, grief/loss, military counseling, social anxiety, ADHD concerns, suicide prevention, LGBTQ+ and social justice advocacy. Jessica’s priorities are to help people discover their true selves while expressing their deepest concerns in a safe place and meeting her clients at their level. Jessica enjoys spending time with her two fur babies, Arya and Sansa, watching her nephews play sports, playing card games, relaxing at the beach or mountains, attending sporting events, and enjoying live performances in her spare time. Jessica is an avid DC sports junkie, especially for the Capitals and Commanders!
