Sherrial Swiney, LCSW, helps children, teens, adults, and seniors across Virginia build practical skills to manage life’s challenges and improve their emotional well-being. Whether a child is struggling with school avoidance, a teen is navigating identity and peer stress, or an adult is coping with life transitions, Sherrial partners with each client to create a personalized path toward stability and growth in communities throughout VA. Her clinical expertise includes treating ADHD, anxiety disorders, and depression, with additional experience addressing trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorder, and grief/loss issues. Sherrial incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, and family therapy techniques to help clients better understand patterns of thinking and behavior while building resilience and coping skills. Sherrial is especially passionate about supporting individuals and families impacted by foster care and adoption-related challenges, as well as women’s issues. She has meaningful experience working with the adoption and foster care community and members of the LGBTQ+ population, helping clients process trauma, strengthen relationships, and foster a sense of belonging. Through individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, and group therapy, she creates a supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. Outside of her clinical work, Sherrial enjoys reading and staying active through a variety of workout activities.
