My name is Trey Mireles and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I earned my Master’s degree from Capella University in Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. My career began as a Psychology Professor at Madison Area Technical College where my passion for helping others continued to grow leading me into counseling and psychotherapy. I continue to teach in higher education providing a valuable insight for those interested in exploring college options at any age.

Through my journey I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families applying Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Theory and Parent Coaching allowing me to adapt and meet the needs of each client. I have gained specialized training and experience working with children and adolescents; particularly those who have experienced trauma by obtaining additional education in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I believe that the relationship between counselor and client comes first and creates a necessary foundation. I take a strength based and client centered approach to therapy.

I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including day treatment at Northstar Counseling Center, in home psychotherapy at Orion Family Services, performing psychological and psycho-emotional assessments at Child and Family Psychological Services and outpatient psychotherapy at multiple practices.
