David Street, MD
Specializes In:
It is important to me to understand my patients as people with relationships, culture, religion and life experiences and the impact of their mental illness on their lives. Next, collaboratively we will determine how to use my knowledge and their experience to improve their situation. I have a particular interest in mood disorders, personality disorders, and PTSD. I attended the Medical College of Pennsylvania and then did my psychiatry residency at Vanderbilt University where I served as chief resident and received The Marc H. Hollender, M.D., Award, For Outstanding Resident Performance. I completed my Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at Emory University. In 2013, I received the NAMI Exemplary Psychiatrist Award, which was awarded by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill as recognition for service to persons with serious and persistent mental illnesses. From 2008 to 2021, I trained medical students and psychiatry trainees in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy in my roles as an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University and as an Honorary Senior Lecturer for the University of Auckland. As part of my psychotherapy experience, I have led
DBT groups, individual therapy and resident and therapist supervision. I have extensive experience working with professionals, such as, M.D.s, Ph.Ds., nurses and lawyers.
