I attended West Virginia University School of Medicine for both medical school and my residency training in Psychiatry. I am passionate about improving the lives of patients with mental illness through a combination of medication management and brief psychotherapy interventions. I practice Psychiatry using an integrative approach that includes coordination with your other doctors, attempting to strengthen social supports, and encouraging healthy lifestyle choices. I have experience treating the following illnesses: -Mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder) -Anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias, etc.) -Psychotic disorders (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, delusional disorder) -Perinatal disorders (pregnancy counseling regarding medications, treatment of mental illness during pregnancy, postpartum depression) -Trauma related disorders (including post traumatic stress disorder) -Obsessive compulsive disorder -Eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder) -Women’s mental health (mental illness worsened/caused by hormonal fluctuations, domestic abuse, sexual/intimacy issues) -Mental illness related to chronic medical conditions (cancer, autoimmune diseases, end stage organ disease, etc.) -Neurocognitive disorders (dementias, traumatic brain injuries) -Mental illness related to developmental disabilities (autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, ADHD) New patient visits typically last for an hour. During this time I will to hear your concerns, obtain a history to establish a timeline of symptoms, and work with you to develop a plan of care. During follow up appointments (typically 30 minutes in length), we will review your response to your treatment(s) and make adjustments as needed.
