Dr. Biermann is a psychologist licensed to practice in Ohio since 2013. She earned her PhD in counseling psychology at the University of Akron. Her undergraduate degree in mathematics was awarded by Valparaiso University. She has provided psychological services in hospitals, long term care, primary care and private practice settings. Before training to become a psychologist, she worked in corporate and government settings for more than 25 years, informed by her MBA and her PhD in Operations Research from CWRU.

Dr. Biermann provides therapy to adult individuals and couples, and also family therapy for adults facing aging parent issues and issues left over from childhood. Therapy for couples is based on the concepts of Gottman and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). For individual therapy she has an eclectic approach that favors ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). Dr. Biermann is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Ohio Psychological Association, and has given presentations to conferences of both those organizations as well as many other audiences. She has published several research papers and a book chapter for professionals on ways to preserve cognitive ability while aging.
