Nakita Cook, PMHNP, helps children, teens, and adults across Illinois manage complex mental health concerns with compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care. As a prescriber at LifeStance Health, she provides medication management and support for individuals navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, and co-occurring substance use concerns. Nakita is known for creating a supportive and judgment-free environment where patients and families feel heard, respected, and actively involved in treatment planning. Nakita is especially passionate about supporting individuals recently discharged from psychiatric hospitalization and those participating in court-ordered treatment. She understands that these transitions can feel overwhelming and works closely with patients to build stability, strengthen coping skills, and reduce the risk of future crises. Her clinical approach emphasizes consistency, accountability, and practical strategies that help patients regain confidence and move forward with greater emotional balance. With experience treating pediatric, adolescent, and young adult populations, Nakita works with children, adolescents, teens, and adults facing behavioral health challenges across many stages of life. She has clinical experience supporting patients with bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma-related concerns, and alcohol and drug use issues, while also offering care for additional mental health conditions. Her services include medication management and substance abuse medication management, and she incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques into treatment when appropriate. Nakita also has experience serving members of the LGBTQ+ community, military veterans, and individuals involved in adoption or foster care systems. Since beginning her practice in 2017, Nakita has remained committed to helping patients improve daily functioning, emotional regulation, and long-term wellness through personalized psychiatric care. She believes in meeting each person where they are and tailoring treatment plans to fit their unique needs, goals, and life experiences. Outside of work, Nakita enjoys spending time with family, cooking, traveling, reading for pleasure, journaling, and coloring. Her warm and approachable personality helps patients feel comfortable building a collaborative therapeutic relationship focused on healing and growth.
