About John Stanford (He/Him)

Levi Stanford is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC), specializing in treating mental health across the lifespan. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma before going on to earn his Master of Science in Nursing as a nurse practitioner specializing in mental health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His love and passion for psychiatric care of patients began before nursing school when he was able to shadow psychiatrists and psychiatric-nurse practitioners that served as mentors. Levi has a wide variety of clinical interests and conditions treated, ranging from anxiety, depression, and ADHD to psychosis and substance abuse disorders. What he most enjoys about working in mental health is involving patients in their own plans of care, customizing treatments to best fit each individual patient, and seeing resolutions of symptoms and positive results in patients’ overall mental health. In his free time, Levi enjoys traveling to various countries, hiking at national parks, swimming, and playing golf.

I’ve seen Levi for over a year and my experience has been absolutely phenomenal. He is super accommodating and understanding of work schedules and general life situations. I previously saw psychiatric providers that were very algorithmic and didn’t really listen to what parts were actually bothering me. Levi’s care is very collaborative and individualized over time. He’s not limited to just what he can do. He encouraged me to continue therapy and took the time to discuss inpatient and intensive outpatient options for my depression whenever I mentioned needing more care than I was receiving at the time and he knows meds aren’t the full solution to every problem. He actually remembers my job and the things I have talked about in previous appointments, even briefly. Overall, he’s a very attentive and compassionate provider. He makes sure all your concerns are taken care of and working towards your individual goals. I’ve had an exceptional experience with Levi, which is a really difficult thing to do with psychiatry. I have recommended him to a couple of my friends in person and will continue to do so on the rare occurrence this subject comes up.

Taking care of your mental health can be a terrifying experience, especially when it involves choosing a new provider. I didn't expect the appointment to be 100% legitimate because I was skeptical about having a successful experience with virtual appointments. Also, it was astonishingly easy to see if they accepted my insurance (they did and DO!), and how long would it take to fit me on a schedule? I was able to see Levi within two weeks of reaching out to LifeStance. Levi possesses an abundance of charm, maturity, and knowledge about human psychiatric conditions as well as the ability and willingness to appropriately assess his patients, prescribe and/or adjust medications (should you need them), and most importantly, he truly listens to his patients.I would recommend Levi to anyone needing who needed to speak with a professional in the mental health industry. He is an integral part of my mental healthcare team at LifeStance & I've been exceedingly impressed by the competent treatment & compassionate care that I've received from Levi.

Great experience! Easy from start to finish! Moved here from another state and they’ve made the transition of establishing new healthcare very very easy! Really got to know me and my needs, then quickly put a plan in place to make sure I’m getting the care I need! Highly recommend!

I have had several different psychiatrists and Levi is by far my favorite! He truly listens to my concerns and answers any questions I have regarding my treatment. I never feel like he is judging me for anything I say. He is extremely knowledgeable on medications and mental disorders.

Today, was my first 'in-person' meeting with Levi. Let's face it, changing doctors can be very stressful. I was immediately at ease, when I met Levi. He made me feel very comfortable and was so easy to talk with. I enjoyed my visit and would highly recommend Lifestance.

The staff is proffesional, considerate, and caring. They really do care about your well-being, and it shows through in their care. Levi is very knowledgeable and cares about his patients, I always felt that I was in good hands. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
