Shauna Polen, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC,
About Shauna Polen (She/Her)
Shauna Polen helps adults build greater stability, clarity, and confidence in their mental health through thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care. As a prescriber with LifeStance Health, she provides medication management for adults across Virginia, partnering with patients to better understand their symptoms and create individualized treatment plans that support lasting well-being. Shauna works with adults experiencing conditions such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD, while also offering care for a range of additional mental health concerns. A particular area of passion for Shauna is supporting individuals navigating anxiety disorders, depression, and trauma-related challenges. She understands that these experiences can affect every aspect of daily life, from relationships and work performance to sleep and overall quality of life. Her approach emphasizes compassionate listening, clinical expertise, and collaboration, helping patients feel supported while working toward meaningful personal goals. She also has experience treating concerns such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), postpartum depression and anxiety, and sleep disorders, among other conditions. Shauna believes that effective mental health treatment begins with understanding each person’s unique story. She incorporates principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into her patient-centered approach, helping individuals recognize patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress while supporting healthy coping strategies. Through medication management and ongoing assessment, she strives to help patients achieve symptom relief and improved day-to-day functioning. Her educational background includes studies at American Sentinel University, Norfolk State University, and Walden University, providing a strong foundation for her work as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse. She remains committed to delivering quality psychiatric care that is both clinically sound and respectful of each patient’s individual needs. Outside of work, Shauna enjoys being outdoors in nature, spending time with loved ones, and traveling. These experiences help her maintain a balanced perspective and reinforce her appreciation for connection, resilience, and personal growth. Patients throughout Virginia seeking professional support for anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and other mental health concerns can turn to Shauna for compassionate, personalized care through LifeStance Health.
