While psychiatric diagnosis commonly is at the forefront of the physician-patient relationship, my practice emphasizes problem-solving and formation of therapeutic alliance as the pillars of tailored and effective individualized care. My extensive training has provided me with abundant tools to work with and treat any psychiatric condition, but I am particularly interested in management of ADHD, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. I take a culturally tailored, holistic, and comprehensive approach to psychotherapeutic and medicine management. I have experience working in diverse settings including private practice, correctional facilities, inpatient, and as a consultant. My additional training in addiction psychiatry provides me with the knowledge to treat patients with addictive disorders, co-occurring substance use, and other mental health conditions.

I am originally from San Diego, CA. Prior to joining Pacific Coast Psychiatric Associates, I completed both a psychiatry residency and addiction psychiatry fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Science Center of New Orleans. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Sacramento State University, where I played Defensive Back for the Sacramento State Hornets. I earned my Medical Degree at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. I am inspired by the diversity and cultural richness of Californians and I look forward to the rewarding endeavor of helping people of all backgrounds live their best lives. I am a board-certified Adult Psychiatrist and a board-eligible Addiction Psychiatrist with a special interest in treating patients with ADHD, anxiety and mood disorders, and substance use disorders.

Dr. Mitchell is knowledgeable and professional. I missed an appointment due to a family emergency and he made all the effort to get me in before the holidays. He's a provider that seems to want the best for his patients and that is something I truly appreciate.

Very nice experience. Dr. Mitchell was pleasant and listened to my thoughts. Very easy to talk with. Too bad he is in S. Carolina, little bit of a trip for an office visit from California.

Dr. Mitchell has been an excellent doctor. He is very understading and emphathetic. He actually talks to you and not down to you with suggestions not directions. Thx!
