As a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at LifeStance Health, she provides medication management for patients experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma-related conditions, sleep difficulties, and school avoidance. Dr. Gao takes a collaborative and family-centered approach that prioritizes emotional safety, developmental understanding, and individualized treatment planning for each child and young adult she serves.

Dr. Gao is especially passionate about treating OCD and related disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and psychosis. She understands the unique impact these conditions can have on a child’s academic performance, social relationships, emotional regulation, and family dynamics. Her approach incorporates careful diagnostic evaluation, collaboration with caregivers and schools, and psychopharmacology when clinically appropriate. In addition to her primary areas of focus, Dr. Gao has experience supporting children and young adults with childhood behavioral concerns, trauma, medical and health-related psychological challenges, and insomnia. Dr. Gao began practicing in 2017 and completed her education at Albany Medical College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She completed additional specialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Gao also speaks Chinese, which helps her support a broader range of patients and families with culturally responsive care.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Gao enjoys bicycle touring, permaculture, and playing the violin. These interests reflect her appreciation for creativity, balance, and lifelong learning.
