About Dr. Stephen Werner-Sleva (He/Him)

Dr. Stephen Werner-Sleva helps children, adolescents, teens, and young adults across Ohio navigate complex mental health challenges with compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based psychiatric care. Practicing at LifeStance Health, he provides medication management and individual therapy for patients experiencing conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders. Dr. Werner-Sleva is especially attuned to the unique emotional and behavioral needs that can arise during childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, and he works closely with patients and families to create individualized treatment plans that support long-term wellness and resilience.

A significant focus of Dr. Werner-Sleva’s practice is supporting individuals who have recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital and are transitioning back into daily life. He understands that this period can feel overwhelming for both patients and families, and he prioritizes continuity of care, stabilization, and helping patients rebuild confidence and healthy routines. He also has experience working with young people facing school avoidance, mood instability, psychosis, trauma, and sleep-related concerns, while offering affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals and patients with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders.

Dr. Werner-Sleva incorporates a thoughtful blend of therapeutic approaches into treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based strategies. He also provides gender-affirmative medical readiness evaluations and works to foster a safe, respectful environment where patients feel heard and understood. While his practice focuses on child and adolescent psychiatry, he also offers support for young adults managing life transitions, identity development, and emotional regulation challenges.

He earned his medical education through The Ohio State University and The University of Toledo and has been practicing since 2021.

Outside of work, Dr. Werner-Sleva enjoys reading fantasy, science fiction, and dark academia novels, staying active through running and dance, and spending time with friends, family, and pets. He also enjoys attending drag events, musicals, concerts, and movies.
