About Matthew Geromi (He/Him)

Matthew Geromi, D.O. is a board-certified physician practicing Psychiatry in the Carmel Valley area of San Diego, CA. He treats adults ages 18 and older including older adults and elders.

Dr. Geromi has experience in treating a wide variety of psychiatric conditions including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorders, eating disorders, and psychotic disorders. His areas of expertise and interest include psychiatric disorders associated with chronic medical illness, eating disorders, reproductive psychiatric care, mental health treatment for health care professionals, and mental health treatment for airline crew.

Dr. Geromi completed his medical degree in May 2009 at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—one of the oldest osteopathic medical schools, founded in 1899.

After Dr. Geromi completed his first year of residency in Family Medicine at the Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL in June 2010, he completed the Psychiatry Residency Program at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, FL in June 2013. He served as the Chief Resident for Psychiatry during the last two years of his residency.

Dr. Geromi completed his undergraduate degree, majoring in Biology, in 1996. Fueled by his perpetual love for flying and aviation, he then spent about 6 years working as a flight attendant for a major airline carrier and was crew-based in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Geromi has practiced Medicine in the Carmel Valley area of San Diego, CA since completing residency in July 2013. He maintains active medical licenses in California, Florida, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.

Since 2016, he has worked as a Medical Director and Senior Medical Director for several major health insurance plans. Dr. Geromi also holds a faculty appointment as a clinical professor of Psychiatry for the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and provides online teaching and support for this year medical students during their Psychiatry rotation. He also serves as an item writer, item editor, and faculty member for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Geromi has been a Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator for numerous medication studies for a variety of indications including posttraumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, treatment-resistant depression, migraine headaches, insomnia disorders, schizophrenia, binge-eating disorder, and ADHD.
