I have been lucky enough to have the same psychiatrist for 15+ years but as of last month, she decided to embark on a much deserved retirement. I have only lived in Dallas approximately 2 years and I have seen the same psychiatrist for basically my whole life or at least all the time I wasn’t too young to forget. Today was my very first experience with LifeStance and Dr. Spence happened to be the new psychiatrist I booked my appointment with; mostly because his profile said he liked cats and I LOVE cats. Needless to say… I woke up terrified this morning for my appointment. The entire drive my brain was going 90 to nothing with questions, thoughts, and worries. Now that the appointment is all said and done and it’s time to write a review - let me tell you that I picked PERFECTLY. LifeStance had a gorgeous, clean, and quiet waiting room; which made me feel at ease and comfortable. I did not have to wait even 5 minutes before Dr. Spence came out to the waiting room to great me with a warm-hearted, kind smile and an obvious, “I am ready to help” attitude. While in the office/patient room my chair just happened to be at an angle where the sun was shining directly into my eyes; so naturally I put my sunglasses on. Dr. Spence noticed this and immediately stopped what he was doing, and walked over to the window to shut the blinds so that I could be more comfortable. With initial exams and even follow-up appointments, especially with psychiatry - uncomfortable questions have to be asked by the provider so they can assess the patient accurately and treat accordingly; we all know this. However, knowing that certainly doesn’t make those questions any easier to process and answer in real time. What did make those uncomfortable, trauma response questions easier to answer while allowing my emotions to remain manageable was Dr. Spence’s “bedside manner,” for lack of better words. Dr. Spence provided direct eye contact and verbalized both concern and empathy towards me with his words and mannerisms during that difficult questioning period which allowed me to relax and answer. He even offered condolences for events that most people would say I should not be effected by anymore. He was kind hearted and compassionate. I felt seen and understood and safe. And to think… just 30 minutes prior I was mentally spiraling due to a big change in my life that provoked fear and worry. In hindsight - the fear and the worry sounds so silly now. LifeStance and Dr. Spence are definitely my new place and my new psychiatrist and although I will always miss my life-long psychiatrist; I am happy and feel lucky to be taken care of by LifeStance & Dr. Spence now. He even showed a true interest in my crazy cat lady pictures I felt obligated to show him. If you are looking for a new psychiatrist - choose Dr. Spence; and if you aren’t like me and can’t choose a doctor based off a similar cat love interest; choose LifeStance- because I guarantee they have the perfect provider there for you too.

Dr Spence is great, quick and to the point but understanding and kind. Easy to make an appointment and I didn’t have to wait at all. Only negative is an order was sent to the lab and when I got to the lab they didn’t have it but I sent a message through the portal and that was fixed and I was able to collect the labs today with only a slight delay. This was likely an EMR issue and not the fault of any staff member.

Had a great telehealth conversation with Dr. Corey Spence. He is very thorough and likes to get the whole perspective before he decides on medication. He actually takes time to talk with you and then explain everything to you afterwards. I think he’s going to be a great psychiatrist for me and at the moment I would recommend him to anyone..

Dr. Spence is a good fit for younger adult patients. He seems to connect and make them feel they are just a causal sitting talking until like a doctors office and the stress of all that. I recommend him for young adults. The only down fall is the office is hard to get a hold of .
