Dr. Emilia Ramirez is both from Texas and California, loves what she does and considers it her calling. She has worked in the field of social services for approximately 25 years and began her training as a therapist in 2005. Dr. Ramirez completed her Clinical Psychology doctorate in 2011 in Dallas, Texas. Prior to this, she obtained a Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2009 in Dallas Texas and graduated as a fourth-generation Longhorn from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2001, After completing graduate school, she moved back to California and is here to stay. Emilia uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy in tandem with Narrative therapy to meet people where they are and help them get to where they want to be. She believes in the power of these treatment interventions to help people with landmark change. In addition, Emilia believes in the power of the story, and how the story the person shares is just as meaningful as the clinical interpretation. Dr. Ramirez teaches people how to re-write their narratives into more gentle and self-accepting ones so that they can can feel good about who they are, manage their world more efficiently and feel more capable of independently managing their mental health needs. For fun she enjoys playing guitar, tennis, painting, and watching documentaries. She loves her cat, all animals really, and wants to make the world a safer, more beautiful place for all the patients she serves. She considers it a privilege to get to do what she does and will do her best (every time) to help someone more clearly regulate their life, their emotional experience, their mental health, and feel agency and fulfillment about the life they lead.
