Dr. Wilensky is a clinical psychologist and LifeStance Health Clinical Manager. He conducts psychotherapy (ages 13 through geriatric), psychological/neuropsychological testing (ages six through geriatric), and forensic evaluations (juvenile and adult). He also supervises pre-doctoral interns and postdoctoral residents. His psychotherapy integrates patient-centered, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and experiential approaches (clinical hypnosis, gestalt, mindfulness) to help patients experiencing mood disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, and life-transition concerns. His psychological testing can help determine differential diagnosis and guide treatment planning for cognitive-related issues (intelligence, attention, memory) and emotion/personality-related concerns along with specialized issues including pre-surgical assessment and disability determination. His forensic evaluations can help determine criminal responsibility, competence, violence risk, and treatment needs. Dr. Wilensky also evaluates asylum applicants, many on a pro-bono basis, who have a documented history of torture or other forms of oppression in their home countries. Dr. Wilensky received his PsyD degree from the APA-accredited American School of Professional Psychology, Virginia Campus, and a postdoctoral MS degree in clinical psychopharmacology from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco. He was Chief Intern at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute and completed his post-doctoral training with Forensic Health Services. He completed asylee evaluation training through Doctors of the World (now HealthRight International). Dr. Wilensky has extensive experience in outpatient, inpatient, day treatment, crisis care, and correctional settings, and directed a program serving the homeless mentally ill. He also developed programs and gave public presentations on stress management under a federally funded grant following September 11 and related events, work for which he received an award from the Commonwealth of Virginia. He worked in a practice evaluating applicants for first-responder positions, has served as an expert witness in juvenile and adult courts, and taught in an APA-accredited doctoral program. He has been featured in local television and print media. Dr. Wilensky is passionate about music, having attended countless concerts, played and jammed with local bands and a community orchestra, trained with a member of a professional symphony, and studied with a Ghanaian Master Drummer known for his work with Fleetwood Mac and Paul Simon. Dr. Wilensky also loves animals (especially dogs), walking and staying fit, traveling, and reading.
