When you meet with Sam, you’ll learn that her approach to therapy is based on authenticity, positive regard, compassion, and empathy. You’ll enter a space where you can learn and grow without judgement. As you build a trusting relationship with Sam, you’ll be supported in your journey through the struggles, tough times, and ups and downs of life.

Sam works with children, adolescents, individuals, and their families to address a variety of concerns, including attachment struggles, trauma, developmental delays, anger, parenting, family functioning, anxiety, and depression. She encourages open communication and understanding through active listening. She utilizes systemic, attachment-based and trauma informed therapies to support the client and their needs. Sam is trained in EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Play therapy (non-directive and directive), and Functional Family therapy.

Sam earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado and her Master’s of Social Work at the University of Denver. Prior to working at Heart Centered Counseling, Sam worked in a residential and day treatment facility supporting children, adolescents, and their caregivers through therapeutic services and case management.
