Ryan Muir is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois. He earned his MS in Clinical Mental Health/Addiction from National Louis University and his BA in Accounting from North Central College. As a person with a disability, Ryan embraces the mindset of being “differently abled” rather than “disabled.” This perspective deeply shapes his therapeutic work, where he encourages clients to explore growth through openness, creativity, and balance.

Ryan’s approach is eclectic and tailored to each individual, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered, Solution-Focused, and Gestalt modalities, as well as the Gottman Method for couples. He is also trained in EMDR. He specializes in supporting people facing challenges such as low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, addictions, grief and loss, trauma, navigating life transitions, and coping with physical disabilities.

Outside of his clinical work, Ryan enjoys exploring life’s adventures — from road trips with his wife to working on classic cars, exercising, and learning new skills. He believes that stepping outside of our comfort zones is often where real growth begins.

Ryan Muir provides services under clinical supervision.
