Specializes In:
Peter Truell, LCPC, helps adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults navigate life’s challenges with clarity and purpose while providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care for individuals and couples throughout Illinois. At LifeStance Health, he works collaboratively with patients to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma while creating a supportive environment where lasting growth and meaningful change can occur. Peter has been practicing since 2015 and brings a thoughtful, person-centered approach to therapy. He draws from proven treatment methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based techniques to help patients develop practical coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen resilience. In addition to his work with individuals, he provides couples therapy to help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and navigate relationship challenges. He also works with first responders, military veterans, LGBTQ+ individuals, and offers support for a variety of additional mental health concerns. Peter is particularly passionate about helping individuals who have recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital and those participating in court-ordered treatment. He understands that these situations can involve significant stress, uncertainty, and life transitions. His goal is to help patients establish stability, build confidence, maintain progress, and create sustainable strategies for long-term wellness while supporting them through complex systems and recovery processes. His clinical experience also includes working with alcohol and drug use issues, ADHD, and a broad range of other emotional and behavioral concerns. Peter tailors treatment to each person’s unique needs, recognizing that successful therapy begins with understanding the individual behind the symptoms. Outside of his clinical work, Peter enjoys camping, hiking, spending time outdoors, music, comics, board games, and collecting. These interests help him stay grounded and bring creativity, curiosity, and balance into his life.
