Elizabeth (she, her, hers) received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts and her Masters in Social Work degree from Boston College along with a paralegal certificate from Northeastern University. She conducted her internship at a community health center in Boston working as a domestic violence advocate and created a task force to educate the community regarding domestic violence prevention and intervention. She also worked at Boston Children’s Hospital in the inpatient psychiatric unit along with the emergency department with children, adolescents, and families who struggle with mental health issues. Elizabeth also specializes in treating those who struggled with eating disorders. She conducted a pilot in the emergency department to provide early intervention to families in order to prevent hospitalization, engage family systems, and establish alliance around treatment options. Elizabeth believes in challenging the stigma associated with mental illness. She believes everyone has the capacity to learn, grow, and heal with support, dedication, and connection. Elizabeth’s practice draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities with a focus on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and mindfulness and motivational enhancement techniques. She has over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Throughout this time, she has gained experience by working in community mental health agencies, several emergency departments, and inpatient acute care settings. Elizabeth’s hope is to provide an environment with compassion and support so that individuals can draw on their own strength and live happy and fulfilling lives. In addition, Elizabeth specializes in helping people with addiction and is a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor.
