Karen Skrzypek, LMSW, CAADC
Specializes In:
Karen Skrzypek, LMSW, helps teens, adolescents, adults, and older adults reduce emotional distress, build effective coping skills, and regain a sense of balance in their lives through compassionate, evidence-based therapy. Practicing at LifeStance Health and serving patients across Michigan, she provides individual therapy for those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, and substance use challenges. Karen creates a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes at their own pace.
With extensive clinical experience, Karen works with teens and adults facing life transitions, mood concerns, and the lasting effects of stress and trauma. She treats adolescents and teens ages 11–17 as well as adults and seniors, tailoring care to each developmental stage. Her approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based strategies to help clients better understand thought patterns, regulate emotions, and develop practical tools for daily life. Karen also serves select populations including individuals on the autism spectrum, first responders, and military veterans, and offers additional areas of clinical focus beyond those highlighted.
Karen is especially passionate about supporting individuals experiencing women’s issues and substance use concerns, adult ADHD, and trauma. She understands how these challenges can intersect and impact relationships, self-esteem, and overall functioning. Her work emphasizes trauma-informed care, skill-building, and resilience, helping clients move toward greater clarity, stability, and confidence while honoring their unique experiences and strengths.
Outside of her clinical work, Karen enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and beloved pets. She has a deep passion for animals, loves being at the barn watching her daughter ride horses, and embraces her role as a dance mom while traveling with her son for competitions. In her downtime, she enjoys reading, diamond art, painting, trying new recipes, and exploring creative outlets that support balance and well-being.
