Haruka Kawata, LPC, ATR
Specializes In:
Haruka Kawata helps children, adolescents, teens, and adults throughout Missouri navigate emotional challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives. As a therapist at LifeStance Health, she provides compassionate, individualized care for those experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma-related concerns. Haruka believes that every person’s story is unique and works collaboratively with patients to develop practical strategies that support long-term emotional wellness and personal growth.
Haruka is especially passionate about helping individuals facing life transitions during early adulthood. This stage of life often brings significant changes involving identity, relationships, education, careers, and independence. She enjoys supporting young adults as they build confidence, manage uncertainty, and develop the skills needed to navigate these transitions successfully. In addition, she incorporates creative approaches, including art-based techniques when appropriate, to help patients explore emotions and express themselves in meaningful ways.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based care and focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment where patients feel heard and understood. Haruka utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based interventions to help individuals develop healthier thought patterns, strengthen coping skills, and improve emotional regulation. Along with her primary areas of focus, she has experience supporting patients with ADHD, childhood behavioral concerns, grief, school avoidance, and other mental health needs.
Haruka has experience working with diverse populations, including individuals in adoption and foster care systems, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those with autism spectrum disorders or developmental disabilities. She is also able to provide services in Japanese, helping increase access to culturally responsive mental health care for individuals and families who prefer to communicate in that language.
Since beginning her clinical practice in 2021, Haruka has remained committed to helping patients achieve greater emotional well-being and life satisfaction. Outside of her work, she enjoys staying active through dancing, hiking, and fitness activities. She also loves cooking, creating art, listening to music, playing the piano, and spending quality time with family and friends.
