About Abby Owenby (She/Her)

Abby Owenby, LCMHC, helps adults and seniors throughout North Carolina navigate life’s challenges with compassion, insight, and evidence-based therapy. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at LifeStance Health, she works with individuals seeking support for anxiety, depression, and trauma, as well as a range of other mental health concerns. Abby is committed to creating a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. Abby believes that effective therapy begins with a strong therapeutic relationship. She partners with clients to better understand their experiences, identify patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress, and develop practical skills for lasting growth. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), she tailors treatment to each person’s unique needs and goals. She also offers additional therapeutic approaches and interventions to support long-term well-being. A special area of passion for Abby is working with individuals experiencing grief, bipolar disorder, and psychosis or schizophrenia. She understands that these concerns can profoundly affect daily functioning, relationships, and overall quality of life. Abby provides thoughtful, individualized care focused on helping clients build resilience, increase stability, process difficult emotions, and move toward a greater sense of hope and recovery. Known for her genuine and down-to-earth approach, Abby strives to help clients feel comfortable discussing even the most difficult topics. She values collaboration and recognizes that healing looks different for every individual. Her goal is to help clients gain insight, develop healthy coping strategies, and feel more confident in managing life’s complexities. Outside of her clinical work, Abby enjoys attending live music events and concerts, spending time with family, crocheting, and reading.
