About Melissa Morgan Cobbs (She/Her)
Dr. Melissa Cobbs is a seasoned clinician with more than 15 years of experience in clinical practice, supervision, and counselor education. She is a Level 2 trained Emotionally Focused Individual Therapist (EFIT) who specializes in working with high-achieving professionals navigating overcontrol, perfectionism, burnout, and career or family identity transitions. Her clinical approach integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy, Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients cultivate deeper connection, flexibility, and emotional well-being. Dr. Cobbs has a particular passion for supporting career-focused women, mothers, couples, adolescents, and individuals experiencing significant life transitions.
Dr. Cobbs currently serves as the Clinical Director for North Carolina at LifeStance Health, where she leads initiatives focused on clinical excellence, provider development, mentorship, and organizational growth. Her leadership philosophy centers on intentionality, sustainability, and mission-driven innovation, creating environments where clinicians feel supported, empowered, and equipped to thrive. In addition to her healthcare leadership role, she serves as Adjunct Faculty at Liberty University, where she contributes to the education and development of future mental health professionals, fostering confidence, competence, and professional purpose in the next generation of counselors.
She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) in North Carolina and South Carolina, a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), and a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) in North Carolina, where she resides.
