Heather Delaney, MSW, LCSW, LCADC
Specializes In:
Heather Delaney is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey with over 25 years of professional experience across a variety of settings. Since obtaining her LCSW in 2008, Heather has provided evidence-based care to clients across the lifespan; she has focused on providing care to traditionally underserved populations including 9/11 survivors, military service members returning from active duty, individuals coping with grief and trauma, older adults, and adults with Asperger’s Syndrome. Early in her career, Heather observed that many of the clients she served experienced co-occurring issues related to substance use. In order to provide the best care possible, Heather pursued additional training in the assessment and treatment of individuals suffering from addiction; she obtained a second professional license as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in 2010. At LifeStance, Heather often works with adolescents and adults facing issues including significant anxiety, mood concerns, and life transitions. Heather also continues to provide quality care to individuals struggling with substance use disorders across New Jersey.
Throughout her diverse career, Heather has provided care to individuals and groups of all ages. In addition to her clinical licensure, Heather maintains a K–8 teaching certification as well as certification as a School Social Worker. Prior to working at LifeStance, Heather demonstrated success working in school settings with children and adolescents. She has also served as the Clinical Director of a local Adult Partial Day Program.
Clinically, Heather practices from an eclectic, client-centered treatment philosophy which integrates Cognitive Therapy with a range of evidence-based psychotherapy approaches. Some of the additional interventions Heather offers her patients include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) psychosocial skills, mindfulness practices, narrative therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Heather believes that meeting clients where they are is essential to developing an effective and meaningful treatment relationship. Based on a thorough assessment of each client’s needs, Heather develops an individualized treatment plan focusing on both sustainable symptom improvement and overall wellness.
In her free time, Heather enjoys reading and traveling.
