Stephen Kahn is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York. He has an EdM/MA Counseling/Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and a BA in Psychology from American University. Stephen has been practicing in various areas of Mental Health and Psychiatry for over 35 years. He has treated patients who have suffered from Addiction to Bipolar Disorders and Anxiety and Depression to even more serious clinical issues. Stephen treats his patients with dignity and respect and each of them as individuals as he tries to meet each of their needs using therapeutic techniques and processes with which they are comfortable. He is approachable and warm and tries to make certain that a patient is always made to feel welcome in his office, even in this day of Virtual tele-med therapy. Stephen tends to use different types of Talk Therapies and Behavioral Methods of therapy; to try to learn and understand a patient’s history and issues at first and then to try to work with that history and issues which are troubling the person and then to work with them to develop new and healthier means of coping with those issues. He does this by openly talking about the issues and building ways to identify new coping mechanisms when these issues arise, and to guide patients on how to identify what their “triggers” are which have them living in their problems rather than living in the solution. Stephen works hard to try to help a person to develop more positive ways of thinking and behaving on a day-to-day basis and to develop, adapt, and gravitate to healthier daily lifestyles in which they can learn that there is always a solution to the issues they bring to the table in therapy if they are open-minded and ready to change. He finds that over 90% of the time if people are open to change and to a better way of life, they can achieve their goals by just being willing to show up and give the process a chance to work. If you are willing to give it your all, and Stephen believes if you got this far, you are. He pledges to you he will do the same. Stephen loves family and friends first always and also enjoys reading, movies, and exercise.

See what our patients are saying about Stephen Kahn

Stephen is special. It’s only been about 2 months , and my experience with him has been just that… SPECIAL! His ability to allow me to work through my own qualms throughout the sessions is something that leaves me questioning my ability to cope through life in the best way. I’d recommend him to anyone that may think they don’t have the capacity or the strength to navigate through life’s ups and downs.
