Karen Russell, MA, LPCC-S,
About Karen Russell (She/Her)
Karen Russell helps teens and adults across Ohio navigate life’s challenges with compassion, practical support, and decades of clinical experience. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor at LifeStance Health, she provides individual and group therapy for concerns such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma, while also offering support for many additional mental health needs. Since beginning her practice in 1998, Karen has been dedicated to helping people build resilience, develop healthier coping strategies, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
Karen’s therapeutic style is collaborative, warm, and grounded in evidence-based care. She works with teens, young adults, and adults who may be struggling with emotional distress, relationship concerns, life transitions, or the impact of difficult experiences. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based approaches, she helps patients gain insight, develop practical skills, and create positive momentum in their lives.
She has extensive experience supporting individuals facing anxiety disorders, depression, and trauma-related concerns. Karen also works with people managing ADHD, grief, bipolar disorder, substance use concerns, women’s issues, and major life transitions. In addition to these specialties, she provides care for a variety of other mental health and behavioral health concerns. Karen has a particular interest in serving first responders and understands the unique stressors and demands that can accompany these roles.
Karen believes that healing often begins with feeling understood and supported. She creates a welcoming environment where patients can openly explore challenges, build on their strengths, and work toward personal goals at a pace that feels right for them.
Outside of her clinical work, Karen enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and returning to the Outer Banks each summer. A lifelong learner, she enjoys exploring topics ranging from psychology and therapy to wildlife conservation. She has played the violin since childhood and loves all types of music. Much of her free time is devoted to her German Shepherd, Laika, who is a cherished companion and an important part of her daily routine.
