About Michelle O'Rourke (She/Her)

Michelle O’Rourke helps children, adolescents, adults, and older adults throughout Rhode Island develop the tools and confidence needed to overcome mental health challenges and improve their overall well-being. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at LifeStance Health, she provides individual therapy in a compassionate, supportive setting where clients can feel heard, understood, and empowered. Michelle believes that effective therapy is built on collaboration, trust, and a personalized approach that honors each person’s unique experiences and goals. Michelle specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma. She understands that emotional difficulties can affect relationships, physical health, work performance, and daily functioning. Her approach focuses on helping clients gain insight into patterns that contribute to distress while building practical skills to manage symptoms and navigate life’s challenges with greater resilience. In addition to her primary specialties, she supports individuals facing a range of mental health concerns and life circumstances. Michelle is especially passionate about helping individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and the effects of trauma. She recognizes that seeking support can be a significant step and works to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe exploring difficult thoughts and emotions. Through a combination of evidence-based treatment and genuine empathy, she helps clients strengthen coping strategies, foster self-compassion, and move toward meaningful healing and personal growth. Her therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while drawing from additional evidence-based interventions when appropriate. Michelle also provides support for concerns such as substance use challenges, grief, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, women’s mental health concerns, and health-related psychological issues. Because mental health needs can be complex, she utilizes a flexible treatment approach tailored to each client’s circumstances and goals. Michelle earned her education from Johnson & Wales University and the University of Rhode Island. She is committed to providing high-quality mental health care that combines clinical expertise with warmth, respect, and a genuine desire to help clients thrive. Outside of her clinical work, Michelle enjoys crocheting and knitting, activities that help her stay mindful and present. She especially enjoys creating beautiful baby blankets and values spending quality time at home with her family. These personal interests reflect her appreciation for creativity, connection, and balance.
