Gail Gustafson, MS, LMHC,
About Gail Gustafson (She/Her)
Gail Gustafson helps children, adolescents, teens, and adults throughout Rhode Island navigate life’s challenges with compassion, practical guidance, and evidence-based mental health care. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at LifeStance Health, she works collaboratively with individuals, couples, and families to address emotional, behavioral, and relationship concerns while building resilience and healthy coping skills. Her clinical expertise includes anxiety, depression, and ADHD, and she also provides support for a wide range of additional mental health needs. Gail is especially skilled in helping children and teens who are struggling with behavioral concerns, school avoidance, emotional regulation difficulties, and family-related stressors. She understands that challenges during childhood and adolescence can affect academic performance, self-esteem, family relationships, and overall well-being. By partnering closely with both young patients and their caregivers, she helps families develop effective strategies that promote growth, confidence, and lasting success. Her therapeutic approach is personalized to each patient’s goals and circumstances. Gail utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based techniques to help patients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. She has experience working with diverse populations, including individuals in foster and adoptive families, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and military veterans. In addition to her primary areas of focus, she offers support for many other emotional, behavioral, and relationship concerns. Gail believes that meaningful progress happens when patients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process. Whether she is providing individual therapy, couples therapy, or family therapy, she strives to create a supportive environment where patients can explore challenges, strengthen relationships, and develop tools for long-term wellness. She earned degrees from Barton College, Concordia University–Portland, and Capella University, bringing a strong academic foundation to her clinical work. Outside of her professional life, Gail enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors, and following hockey. These interests reflect her appreciation for connection, balance, and the importance of maintaining healthy relationships and activities outside of work.
