Daniel ‘Dan’ Brees, LISW-CP, helps adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults build practical skills to navigate life’s challenges, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful change. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with LifeStance Health, he provides individual therapy for patients across South Carolina, offering compassionate, evidence-based care for concerns such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. Dan works collaboratively with each person to understand their unique experiences and develop a treatment approach that supports lasting emotional well-being. Dan is especially passionate about helping individuals navigate gender identity concerns, men’s issues, and major life transitions. Whether someone is exploring their sense of self, managing the emotional impact of change, or working through challenges related to personal growth and identity, he creates a respectful, affirming environment where patients can feel understood and supported. His approach emphasizes authenticity, self-acceptance, and practical strategies for moving forward with confidence. In addition to these areas of focus, Dan works with individuals experiencing childhood behavior concerns, grief, PTSD and trauma-related symptoms, and later-life transitions. He has experience supporting teens, adults, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals involved in adoption or foster care experiences. Drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), he tailors treatment to each patient’s needs and goals. He also offers support for a variety of additional mental health concerns beyond those highlighted here. Dan believes that successful therapy begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and collaboration. He strives to create a space where patients feel comfortable exploring difficult emotions, developing new coping skills, and celebrating progress along the way. Outside of his clinical work, Dan enjoys video games, reptile ownership, and advocating for social equality.
