My education started at Centenary College, a liberal arts school that focuses mainly on undergraduate students. With a bachelor's in psychology I went on to attend the University of Texas at Arlington ,graduating with a Master of Science in Social Work in 2004. I started my career in a rural town in Arkansas working for Community Mental Health. For the next 8 years I worked with marginalized populations, most of whom had experienced trauma and abuse. I worked primarily in the outpatient clinics, but for two years I split my time with the residential program for adults. This population was mostly under a court order to live at the long term care facility. All of them were chronically, seriously mentally ill. I have worked with all ages. I have experience with individual, family, couples, and group counseling. I have a lot of experience with people in crisis. In 2013 I made a complete 180 career change, moved to the DFW area, and started working in a group private practice. Right now I do exclusively individual therapy. I prefer 13 and older. I really enjoy working with women's issues. Recent focuses have been work stress, self-esteem, boundaries, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, grief, pain management, depression, and anxiety. I would say I am an eclectic therapist who uses CBT, Mindfulness, and a Strengths-Based approach. The most important part of therapy is always the rapport and trust in the therapeutic relationship.
