About Whitney Posey

Whitney Newsome is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas who has been practicing since 2017. Whitney has 11 years of various experience from prison systems, community outreach programs, complex disorders, and a desire to end the mental health stigma. Life can be odd and often we find ourselves in places that we thought we would never be. Whitney has been in her own personal therapy since she was 16 years old, same therapist along the way. She is unsure where she would be had she not taken the chance to become vulnerable. Meeting the client where they are at is the most important aspect of sustaining a therapeutic relationship.

Client-centered therapy is what Whitney utilizes. Clients are not expected to share anything they are not ready to share or uncomfortable sharing until a therapeutic alliance is formed. Taking the first step to seek help can be anxious and unsettling, but once done, we can choose to begin to heal, shedding layer by layer. Therapy is a journey, not a destination. You must be willing to be vulnerable and open to new ideas. That way we can learn to let go of the things that no longer serve us. Outside of work, Whitney enjoys gardening, baseball, reading books, and exercising.
