About Brian Burton (He/Him)

Brian Burton, LCSW, helps children, adolescents, teens, and young adults across Virginia navigate emotional, behavioral, and life challenges with compassion, practical guidance, and evidence-based therapy. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at LifeStance Health, he provides individual and family therapy for a wide range of concerns, with particular experience supporting patients facing anxiety, ADHD, and trauma-related difficulties. Brian works collaboratively with patients and families to build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. Brian is especially passionate about helping children, teens, and young adults who are struggling with ADHD, childhood behavior issues, and school avoidance. He understands the significant impact these concerns can have on academic performance, family relationships, self-esteem, and daily functioning. Using a strengths-based approach, he helps patients identify barriers to success, develop effective strategies, and build confidence both at home and in school. He also partners closely with parents and caregivers to foster supportive environments that encourage growth and positive behavioral change. His clinical approach is tailored to the unique needs of each individual and family. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brian helps patients develop healthier thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, and navigate difficult life experiences. In addition to his primary areas of expertise, he supports patients with depression, alcohol and drug use issues, grief, bipolar disorder, gender identity concerns, psychosis, schizophrenia, and other mental health challenges. His commitment to ongoing professional growth allows him to provide thoughtful, informed care grounded in current clinical practices. Outside of his work, Brian enjoys spending time outdoors with his three dogs, traveling, writing, attending live music events, camping, exploring cars and motorcycles, and playing video games.
