About Joy Carman (She/Her)
Joy Carman is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has been practicing since 2005. She earned her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling (MAPC) and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (BA) from Ottawa University, along with two Certification of Advanced Degrees in Clinical Counseling and Trauma, Abuse and Deprivation (CAGS). She has credentials from the National Board of Certified Counselors as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Board Certified-Telemental Health Provider (BC-TMHP). She is trained in EMDR therapy since 2008, ART therapy (accelerated resolution therapy) and Flash Technique for trauma processing. Joy’s style is one of empathy, understanding, nonjudgment and acceptance, motivational, positive, with a gentle nudge from time to time! Joy likes to empower people to help them find their own internal and external resources to help them to get through challenging times; paired with skill building that is needed to help manage and reduce symptoms and empower people! In her spare time, Joy likes to go hiking, kayaking, snorkeling when she’s outdoors. She likes to read and listen to music when she’s indoors. She plays the piano. Joy loves friends, family. and community and connecting and doing things with them!
