About Bernadette A Heitschmidt (She/Her)
Bernadette Heitschmidt, LPC, provides compassionate, personalized mental health care to adults across Wisconsin. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, and major life transitions using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. Bernadette has a special interest in supporting clients through midlife and later-life changes, and also offers Christian counseling for those who wish to integrate faith into their healing process.
Before joining LifeStance, Bernadette worked in higher education settings, including student wellness, residence life, and a college autism support program. She is especially passionate about working with college students—both undergraduate and graduate—and offers flexible scheduling to accommodate busy academic lives. Her background allows her to understand and address the unique challenges students face, from identity development to managing stress and transitions.
Bernadette’s approach is warm, respectful, and tailored to each individual. She also has experience working with adults on the autism spectrum, adjusting her style to meet diverse emotional and social needs. In addition to individual therapy, she offers case management services to provide well-rounded care. Outside of work, Bernadette enjoys playing hurling, crafting, baking, and DIY projects. She is committed to helping clients find stability, confidence, and purpose in their lives.
