Marty Tamkin, Ph.D., LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who has been practicing psychotherapy since 2004 and has been fully licensed since 2008. Dr. Tamkin has a Ph.D. from Capella University, a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute, and a bachelor’s degree in social work from California State University, Los Angeles. He is actively licensed in Wisconsin, as well as in California, and only sees clients through a telehealth platform.

Marty is trained in several different psychotherapy approaches. One integrative approach incorporates a belief that we relate to ourselves, others, and our environments through filters of our past and present life experiences that interact with our neurobiology. By providing safe, non-judgmental spaces with empathetic understanding and reflection, Marty helps clients experience new understandings of themselves, others, and the world.

Dr. Tamkin assists people working through anxiety, trauma, grief, and challenging life situations/transitions. Marty has practiced psychotherapy in many different settings including family foster care, major mental illness residential treatment, state prison corrections on a mental health unit, private practice, community mental health, sub-acute inpatient mental health care, and undergraduate and graduate level academia.
