I started my clinical counseling practice in 2016 when I provided services for children and adolescent clients with trauma-based treatments before I began work as a school-based therapist providing counseling services for middle school age clients with learning or behavioral difficulties. In this role I supported clients with general anxiety, depression, anger management issues and trauma. I have experience in a Day Treatment school providing counseling services for clients ranging from 6-12. I’ve worked in community outpatient services providing individual counseling services for a general population ranging from 4 to 70 years old. Treatment was focused on Behavioral Management, Post Traumatic Stress, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Depression, Reunification Counseling, as well as Grief Counseling for several years. I originally became involved in clinical work to help support clients with learning and/or behavioral disabilities such as oppositional behaviors, Asperger’s and ADHD. I provided Cognitive Behavioral treatment, mindfulness methods and coping skills to help my clients gain more control over their behavioral responses and feelings of distress. I conducted family therapy to assist my clients’ families to develop strategies to support my client’s progress. I then started working more frequently with clients who were seeking more trauma- informed services. I found in the population I served, that a number of my clients struggling to manage mental health concerns associated with behavioral disabilities like Attentional Deficit Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder were also struggling with trauma related triggers for sustained trauma. Specializations/Certifications In order to support the growing need of my clients for specific trauma-informed psychotherapy, I recently acquired certifications to provide Cognitive Processing therapy, EMDR, and DBT treatments to help support my clients’ needs. I specialize in childhood abuse trauma, community-based trauma, inter-generational trauma, as well as homelessness and incarceration. I am able to help with interventions around managing relationships within one’s various life roles for individuals presenting with a disability and for those who are not. I have experience in working with clients who are actively in Substance Abuse Counseling with other providers. Types of service I offer Outpatient Counseling: Individual and Family Counseling, Group Counseling Patient ages I work with: age 4 – 70, but have a most experience working with 4-18 ( I do not specialize with geriatric aging populations)
