Psychologist and Therapist in Fishers, IN Rachel Severs, PsyD

Rachel Severs, PsyD

Rachel Severs is a clinical psychologist with training across the lifespan. She has a doctoral degree in psychology from Western Kentucky University. She provides individual, group, and family therapies, as well as assessment services for patients. Her specialization areas focus on neurodevelopmental disorders, patients with complex medical conditions, and working with parents of children with special needs. She also has a passion for working with mothers and addressing women's issues. She has extensive experience assessing and treating school-age children and adolescents with attention and learning concerns (e.g., Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability).

Her primary psychotherapy training was in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), but she also has a strong background in behavioral and family systems approaches. She especially enjoys working with parents of children with behavioral difficulties (e.g., emotional regulation, inattention, impulse control) to establish behavior plans and to teach parent training skills using strengths-based approaches. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Centerstone Consortium as a medical psychology intern, and a one-year fellowship in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program in the Pediatric Care Center at Riley Hospital for Children.

Prior to graduate school, Dr. Severs worked as a clinical research coordinator and coordinated neuroimaging and neurobehavioral research studies at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She has presented at national and local conferences on topics including care coordination practices in autism spectrum disorder and measures of executive functioning skills in children with ADHD.

Aside from her career pursuits, Dr. Severs enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and reading in her spare time.
