She has a B.A in History from Birmingham-Southern College and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, Minor in Behavioral/Emotional Disorders from Mississippi State University. As a licensed clinical psychologist, and a nationally certified school psychologist, Dr. Shaw has over 16 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression, inattentiveness, hyperactivity, phobias, traumatic events and abuse, difficulty following directions, poor emotional regulation, involvement in juvenile justice system, and academic, behavioral difficulties within the school or home setting. She approaches every client as an individual and strives to bring unconditional positive regard, kindness, gentle humor, and empathy to every session. Dr. Shaw believes each individual is the expert on themselves. It’s her goal to collaborate with every client to utilize evidence-based strategies resulting in attainment of their therapeutic goals in a timely and supportive manner. Outside of work, Dr. Shaw enjoys reading, riding horses, hiking, swimming, and hanging out with her human and fur family members.
