Dr. Jacquelyn Elbel is a licensed Psychologist in New York who has been practicing since 1988. She holds a Master’s and a Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas. Dr. Elbel is easy to talk to – she listens well and opens the space for clients to explore their situation and issues. She is able to build relationships quickly with empathy, affirmation, and unconditional, nonjudgmental support. Dr. Elbel is able to EITHER allow the client space to process their own emotions and consider options OR help identify areas of concern and provide resources and direction. Working with college students for 35 years, Dr. Elbel has become adept at test anxiety, motivation, study skills, procrastination, and organization. She is able to help clients identify areas of strength, is interested in different cultures, and offers compassion and curiosity in working with diverse populations. Dr. Elbel has worked with clients from six continents and most faith traditions. Her goal is for clients to love and accept themselves as they are so that they can be facilitate the change they want to see. Outside of work, Dr. Elbel loves to read. A recent immigrant to NY from Texas, she is fixing up a 90-year-old house. She enjoys history–especially learning what life was like for ordinary people at different points in time. She enjoys learning about different traditions and faiths. Now that she is in NY she is looking forward to learning to knit and crochet.
