Dr. Adriana Hyams has an evidence-based approach to helping her clients understand themselves better and make meaningful changes in their lives. She might use CBT, ACT, DBT, CPT, ERP, and/or IPT, depending on what clients need. Clients have the best outcomes when they are committed to doing the work both inside and outside of sessions. She enjoys treating adults of all ages with a variety of presenting problems, such as mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, chronic pain, tinnitus, grief, life transitions, and identity issues. As a geropsychologist, she specializes in work with older adults, including coping with aging, physical health conditions, hearing loss, terminal illness, complicated grief, and end of life issues. Finally, she helps couples strengthen their partnerships using the Gottman Method and EFT. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College and her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Geropsychology from the University of Alabama. She completed her internship at VA Palo Alto Health Care System in the Geropsychology Track and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Providence VA Medical Center and Brown University.
