Elizabeth Gibbons Holtzman, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist who provides strength- based therapy for children, adolescents and young adults. Her work has been informed by cognitive behavioral therapies, attachment theory and her own mindfulness practice. Dr. Holtzman is committed to developing a responsive and productive therapeutic relationship which allows for both the desired and often unexpected growth and change that occurs in the context of open, supportive, held space. Dr. Holtzman has worked in a variety of settings over the past 22 years, providing clinical services to school age children and families as well as consultation and professional development to school-based professionals. Dr. Holtzman is strongly committed to teacher wellness and works with a range of educators to promote social emotional health and reduce teacher burn out. In addition, she has worked extensively with college students in addressing the transition from high school to college, increasing academic effectiveness through executive functioning coaching and efficiency, reducing test anxiety, and alleviating life stress and relationship challenges. Dr. Holtzman has taught at the college level for 15 years in the School Psychology Program at Rhode Island College. Dr. Holtzman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Psychology from Colgate University, a M.Ed. in Program Evaluation from the University of Texas at Austin and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a specialty in School Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
