Dr. Rebecca McVey is a Licensed Psychologist, Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst in South Carolina who has been practicing since 2024. She has a Bachelors in Special Education from Appalachian State University, and a Masters in School Psychology and Doctor of Psychology in School Psychology from University of Colorado Denver. Dr. McVey’s specialty is in Pediatric Psychology. She began her career as a special education teacher serving children on the autism spectrum. She then transitioned to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) where she was an in-home therapist/ Board Certified Behavior Analyst for years while completing her doctorate. Dr. McVey was trained as a school psychologist then completed her post doctorate training in testing psychology. Her experience allows her to specialize in the assessment of children with complex behavioral needs and those engaging in high magnitude maladaptive behaviors. Dr. McVey is also highly skilled in working with children and adolescents with complex communication needs and those requiring Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). She has a passion for serving children and adolescents who have neurodevelopmental disabilities. Dr. McVey’s goal is to help children and their families understand neurodiversity, develop their identity as neurodivergent individuals, and learn how to navigate their world with a values-based and neurodiversity affirming approach. Outside of work, Dr. McVey is an avid baker and cake decorator. She enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time with her dog Charlie.
