About Shemar Magee (He/Him)
Life can feel overwhelming when you’re carrying the weight of past experiences, navigating questions about who you are, or trying to find your place in a world that doesn’t always make room for your full identity. Whether you’re struggling with the effects of trauma, exploring your racial or cultural identity, navigating LGBTQ+ experiences, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, you don’t have to face it alone.
I work with youth and adults who want a space where they can show up as their authentic selves without fear of judgment. Many of the people I support are looking for relief from anxiety, painful memories, self-doubt, or the stress that can come from feeling misunderstood, unseen, or caught between different parts of their identity. Together, we create a space where your experiences, emotions, and story are welcomed and respected. Pride in presence.
As a Black clinician, I am passionate about helping people explore how race, culture, gender, sexuality, and social expectations shape the way they move through the world. I believe that understanding these influences can help people make sense of their experiences, feel more empowered in their lives, and reconnect with parts of themselves that may have been overlooked or silenced. I also enjoy working with people who are processing experiences related to discrimination, marginalization, identity development, and life transitions.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in curiosity. I don’t believe you need to have all the answers before reaching out. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you better understand yourself, build on your strengths, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values and goals. Above all, I strive to create an environment where you feel safe, heard, and supported as you navigate life’s challenges.
Outside of work, I enjoy writing, reading, playing video games, spending time in nature, and connecting with friends, family, and community. I’m also passionate about poetry and creative expression, which continue to inspire the way I understand stories, resilience, and the many ways people make meaning of their experiences.
