When you’re in session with Alex you’ll feel heard, understood, and unconditionally accepted. Alex hopes to build a strong therapeutic relationship that allows you to be vulnerable and honest while exploring your emotions and experiences. Your unique identities and experiences will be met with empathy and support without judgment. Alex will work with you to collaboratively develop a plan designed for healing and growth.

Alex supports clients during a variety of life challenges, including depression, anxiety, women’s issues, relational issues, LGBTQIA+ concerns, body image issues, grief, and loss. Her clients can learn how to better understand and express their emotions while increasing ways to cope during times of stress. Alex understands that each person is an individual with unique preferences and needs and will adjust her approach accordingly.

Alex helps her clients find compassion for all of their parts by empowering them, offering feedback, coping strategies, and a new perspective. She approaches healing from a wholistic, client-centered orientation and utilizes tenants of Relational-Cultural Theory in her work with clients. She also implements person-centered, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness techniques. She strives to understand how the systems in which an individual lives can impact their mental health and wellbeing through a social-justice oriented perspective.

Alex earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Missouri State University and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. She has experience providing care to youth, adolescents, and adults (ages 8-55) in a variety of settings, including community mental health, residential centers, and outpatient settings.
