James Dietz, LPC, helps adolescents, teens, and adults across Illinois navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence, emotional balance, and resilience. As a therapist at LifeStance Health, he provides individual therapy to patients throughout IL, supporting those experiencing anxiety, depression, and ADHD. James creates a supportive and collaborative environment where clients feel heard and empowered, while using practical, evidence-based strategies to help them build coping skills, improve daily functioning, and achieve meaningful personal growth. James has a strong interest in working with teens and young adults, including high school and college athletes, as well as individuals facing school-related stressors such as school avoidance. He understands the pressures associated with academic performance, identity development, and life transitions, and tailors treatment to meet each client’s unique goals. His approach is active and skill-focused, helping clients develop tools they can apply both in and outside of sessions. Using a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques, James helps clients better understand their thoughts, regulate emotions, and make healthier decisions. He also has experience supporting diverse populations, including individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, those with autism spectrum disorders, and individuals involved in adoption or foster care. James offers additional areas of focus and interventions to meet a wide range of mental health needs. Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys playing and watching sports, reading, spending time outdoors, swimming, and connecting with animals. He also enjoys watching and logging movies and playing video games, reflecting his appreciation for both activity and relaxation.
