Tara Costigan, PsyD, Psychologist in Northbrook, Illinois

Dr. Costigan has a passion for inclusion of diverse populations in accessing and receiving mental health care. She specializes in individual therapy with adults for a wide range of psychiatric concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use disorders, gambling addiction, mood disorders, gender identity issues, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorder. Dr. Costigan promotes a person-centered approach, utilizing techniques and skills from modern therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Processing Therapy, and Attachment Theory to create an individualized treatment experience. Outside of traditional therapy, Dr. Costigan has extensive education and experience with assessment and diagnosing of neurodevelopment disorders such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Specific Learning Disorders. Dr. Costigan is motivated to help clients identity sources of distress while working collaboratively to repair conflicts both internally and in within their environments.

In her free time, Dr. Costigan enjoys building Legos, exploring new restaurants, thrifting antiques, and keeping up with the newest Marvel shows and movies. Spending quality time with her kids and staying connected to her self-care allows her to recharge and be present in the space with the clients.
