Tegan M. Smischney, LMFT, helps individuals, couples, and families across Minnesota find clarity, healing, and resilience through compassionate and evidence-based care. She works with children, teens, and adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. By creating a safe and nonjudgmental space, Tegan supports her patients in identifying personal strengths, improving communication, and developing the skills needed to manage life’s stressors more effectively. With over a decade of experience in mental health care, Tegan draws from a variety of clinical approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also integrates Family Therapy and Couples/Marital Counseling to help clients strengthen relationships and build emotional connection. Her work often centers around helping people understand how patterns of thought and behavior influence emotional well-being, guiding them toward healthier coping strategies and improved relationships. Tegan is especially passionate about supporting individuals facing anxiety, depression, and trauma-related challenges. She has deep expertise in helping people recover from PTSD and manage the effects of grief and loss, as well as those working through postpartum depression or anxiety. Her work with first responders, military veterans, and members of the LGBTQ+ community reflects her dedication to inclusivity and understanding the unique stressors faced by diverse populations. Outside of her professional work, Tegan enjoys spending time outdoors, gardening, and connecting with family and friends. She values balance and believes that fostering joy and self-care are essential parts of sustaining mental health for both herself and her clients.
