I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor as well as a Master Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the State University of New York at Albany and a Master of Arts in Community Psychology and Counseling at Sage Graduate School in Albany, NY. I have worked in a variety of settings over the past 25 years, including the juvenile justice system, college counseling center, community mental health, and in a primary community health center providing integrated care. At my last position I also served on the LGBTQIA+ committee and played a role in creating an agency approach that welcomed and embraced clients of these populations. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, MI, DBT, CPT, ACT, and EFT. I tend to take a client centered approach to therapy, believing that developing a genuine and empathetic relationship with clients is the foundation and the evidence-based practices build upon that. Being able to partner with you on your journey is essential, using core principles of authenticity, non-judgment and unconditional positive regard. This is coupled with fundamental skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, behavioral activation, problem solving, and cognitive restructuring, as well as a variety of grounding and relaxation techniques, to provide care that is strengths-based and solution-focused. Populations I Serve depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, grief and loss, post-partum depression, life transition or adjustment issues.
